Jerusalem Talitot - The tallit of the city of peace (Ir Shalom)
Jerusalems voice, which goes beyond its walls, is echoing all around the world: shalom. Shalom is also one of the names of G-D. Even in the exile of the people of Israel, G-D has not left Jerusalem. The Divine Presence never moved from the Western Wall and a voice is still heard there saying shalom.
Ir Shalom, the words that are woven in the linen, is one the names of Jerusalem. An artist wove an optimistic image of the city of peace. The beautiful colors of this talit capture the eye. Interwoven sky blue and glowing golden threads send a ray of light from between the linens folds. It expresses the hope and belief that peace will be brought to the world from the city of peace.
The four wings of the tallit spread to the four corners of the world. They send to the whole world the Jewish prayer: shalom. The prayer of many generations come together in the peoples tallit: May He who makes peace in His celestial domain, bring peace to us all.
From now on, Jews can cover themselves in this special tallit. They can carry the blessings of peace on their shoulders, look to the sky and keep waiting for peace to come, until nations will not take up sword against nations, until they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. G-D will bless the people of Israel with peace.
